If I take my Wilderness First Responder with First Lead will I be able to recertify with another company, like WMI, or will I be "stuck" having to travel back to one of First Lead's trainings, or having to take WFR all over again?

While we'd prefer you recertify with First Lead, since we know how solidly our training will recertify you, we realize that you may want to recertify with another company. We have direct reciprocity with Wilderness Medical Training Center (WMTC), which means they'll issue you a new certificate upon successful completion of their recertification course. Our arrangement with Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA), Wilderness Medical Institute (WMI), and Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO), is that they will conduct your recertification training, presuming you are still "current", and will, at your request, send a Verification Letter to First Lead, and First Lead will then issue, and mail direct to you, your Recertification Certificate, promptly, and at no charge. We do this regularly.

What if my original WFR certification is with another company? Will First Lead recertify me?

First Lead will recertify graduates from other wilderness medicine providers who teach to similar standard of practice guidelines. Currently, programs who we know meet these standards are Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI), Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA, Wilderness Medicine Training Center (WMTC), Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO), and Wilderness Professional Trainings (WPT). Graduates from programs other tan these listed may qualify for recertification, if they can supply us with course syllabus, competency standards, and hours of teaching.
